Here are just a sampling of things to do near Sidney including the internationally famous the Butchart Gardens.  It will be impossible to do all of these activities in one week, so consider staying longer!

Lochside Bike route.  13.3 miles along the water and and along small town roads.  Maximum elevation gain is 242 feet.  Add 4 miles to ride to the inner harbor of Victoria.  You can also extend this ride by 55 miles by adding the famous Galloping Goose Trail that runs from Victoria to Sooke.  Information on these rides are available below on some PDF broshures:

The Butchart Gardens, Fifty-five acres of stunning flower gardens and a National Historic Site of Canada, is located near Victoria, British Columbia.  Located just 15 km from the apartment.  The Butchart Gardens is now a National Historic site of Canada with hours of strolling through their beautiful and ever changing floral displays.  The Butchart Gardens is an attraction you should not miss!

Victoria Butterfly Gardens were designed and built specifically to showcase the life cycle and free flight of tropical butterflies and moths. The 12,000 sq ft enclosure is a riot of tropical colour, aroma’s and personalities.

Sidney Whale Watching (formerly SeaQuest and Emerald Sea) is located in the Cannery Building at the foot of Beacon Avenue, offers three to three and a half hour tours and they start right from Sidney’s waterfront!

 Seven wineries and cider houses are available to touring and tasting with a dozen kilometers of the apartment.  Further out, approximately one hour from the house, there are dozens of winery producing award winning wines.  A popular nearby attraction is the Sea Cider Farm and Ciderhouse and tasting room.

 About 15 minutes outside of Victoria is a bungee jumping and zip lining park.  Another park is a little farther out with shuttles available from Victoria.

 Nine books store are located in the small town of Sidney.  Sidney is thus proclaimed to be a Booktown and certainly book friendly.  New and used, there is a book for everyone.
 Gulf Island Gulf Islands National Park Reserve of Canada.  Sidney is a excellent location for day tripping to the islands or as a launching spot for longer visits to the area.

Miles of walking trails and several beaches make outdoor fun practically right out your door.  There is a fantastic walk to the lighthouse spit in Sidney.  Great views of the island and a terrific place for that special picnic.
